The Ten Gods

A BaZi chart does not describe elements in isolation. Every stem is read as a relationship to one reference point — your Day Master — and the Ten Gods are the names for those ten possible relationships.

Five kinds of relationship, each in two polarities: the element that matches you, the one you produce, the one you control, the one that controls you, and the one that produces you. Nothing here is a verdict — each name describes how a force meets you, not what it will do to you.

Peers

The same element as you — parity and rivalry.

Companion 比肩

The same element as you, standing at your shoulder — an equal, not a helper.

Rob Wealth 劫财

Your element in the opposite polarity — a rival current running under the surface.

Output

What you produce — quietly, or visibly.

Gentle Output 食神

What you produce when nothing is being forced — the easy channel.

Bold Output 伤官

The wide-open outlet — where the inside finally becomes outside.

Wealth

What you act on and account for.

Direct Wealth 正财

Earned money and concrete asks — effort that converts steadily.

Indirect Wealth 偏财

Opportunity that moves fast — worth catching with a plan already written.

Officer

What asks things of you — structure and pressure.

Direct Officer 正官

Shape, deadlines, and someone entitled to ask things of you.

Seven Killings 七杀

Pressure of the kind that performs — a real test, not a threat.

Resource

What feeds you — the formal route and the side door.

Direct Resource 正印

Backing, credentials, the long document — support that compounds.

Indirect Resource 偏印

Knowledge that arrives from the side door — intuition, and the unusual route.
