Gentle Output 食神
What you produce when nothing is being forced — the easy channel.
Gentle Output is what your Day Master produces, in the same polarity — the element you generate rather than the one that generates you. Of the two output gods it is the calmer one: work that flows out without being pushed.
How it tends to show up
It reads as craft rather than performance. People with strong Gentle Output tend to enjoy the making itself, keep a steady pace over long projects, and produce well without needing an audience. Traditional texts also tie it to appetite and enjoyment — food, comfort, the pleasures that make sustained work possible.
Its cost is softness where sharpness would serve. Output that never forces can also fail to push when a moment requires pushing, and comfort taken too far turns into a reluctance to leave a pleasant plateau.
Where it comes from
Gentle Output appears where a stem or hidden stem is the element your Day Master produces, matching your polarity. When it sits in the month command (月令) — the seasonal position that carries most weight — it tends to set the tone of the whole chart rather than sitting as one feature among many.
Its pair
Bold Output is the same production, opposite polarity: louder, more visible, less patient. Charts often carry both, and which one leads depends on where each sits.
